Obituary for Bettie Josephine “Jo” Miller (1938-2025)

Ms. Bettie Josephine “Jo” Miller, 86, of Woollum, passed away Sunday morning, March 9, 2025 at her home.  She was born on April 7, 1938 at Woollum, the daughter of the late Charlie and Gladys Irene Tuggle Jones.

Bettie Jo was a former accountant with the state of Kentucky and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.  She enjoyed tending her flower beds, playing yahtzee and rummy, working crossword puzzles and spending time reading her Bible.  She delighted in a good bowl of ice cream and was an avid UK basketball fan.  Bettie Jo most treasured time spent with her great grandchildren and treating them to her biscuits and gravy.

On October 11, 1958, she united in marriage with Robert Eugene Miller Sr. and to this union three children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Robert Eugene Miller Sr.; a son, Robert Eugene Miller Jr.; brothers, Roswell Jones, Wendell Jones, Randall Jones and an infant brother, Alvin; infant sister, Mary Loucille; sister-in-law, Marion Miller Duff; brothers-in-law, Tip Hudson and Carl Miller and parents-in-law, Ernie and Mary Kathleen Ogden Culp.

Survivors include her loving children, Karen Ann Miller and fiancé, Gary Bingham, of Woollum and Kathy Jo Richter and Ricky Hacker of Southgate, MI; sisters, Nancy Loretta White and husband, Larry, of Keavy, Beverly Ann Hudson and friend, Bob Rumsfeld, of Heidrick and Charleen Ingram and husband, Curtis, of Woollum; a brother, Eddie Faron Jones and Richard Smolinski of Ferndale, MI; cherished grandchildren, Joshua David Philpot and wife, Lori, of Manchester and Scott Robert Slotnick and wife, Rachel, of Trenton, MI; great grandchildren, Makayla Jo and Alexis Grace Philpot, Carter Day, Mariana Everest and Isabel Eden Slotnick; special sister-in-law, Genelda Jones of South Lyon, MI; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, March 14 at 1 P.M. with Rev. William R. “Man” Cobb and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Blevins Cemetery at Woollum.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.  Serving as an honorary bearer will be Gina Greene with Strive Health.

Friends may visit the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
