Mrs. Bertha Corine Rose, 80, of Jarvis, passed away Thursday morning, December 14, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Jeff and Hattie Smith Powell born on July 4, 1943 in Detroit, MI.
Bertha was a devoted homemaker and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping, going out to eat and most of all spending time with her family.
On March 28, 1966, she united in marriage with William “Bill” Rose in Jellico, TN, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Sue Smith, Troy Smith, Marie Donley, Ima Jean Foley and a brother, Morgan Powell.
Survivors include her loving children, Janie Napier and husband, Rev. Don, of Crab Orchard, Kathy Owens and husband, Dennis, Jefferson Nealy Rose, Randy Rose and wife, Tracy, and Tammy Collett and husband, Johnnie, all of Girdler; a sister, Delores Jones of Barbourville; a brother, Clifton Powell of London; treasured grandchildren, Brad Rose, Kayla Owens, Travis Owens, Nicole Napier, Jared Napier, Chris Napier, Joey Lynn Abner, Kristie Harris, Johnnie Collett, Adam, Justin and Kelsey Rose; great grandchildren, Hadley Mills, Ashton Childers, Salem Childers, Bailey Grace Owens, Oliver Rose, Addison Caddell, Whitney Napier, Tanner and Lexa Collett and Everly and Tucker Harris; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, December 17 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. She will be laid to rest in the New Bethel Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Justin Rose, Adam Rose, Brad Rose, Travis Owens, Johnnie Collett and Earl Smith.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
