Mrs. Beatrice Ross Mooneyham, 96, of Hinkle, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, October 13, 2021 at her home. She was the daughter of the late John and Lillie Gibbons Ross born on February 25, 1925 in Knox County.
Beatrice was a homemaker and the oldest living member of the Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church, where she served in ministry with her husband for 38 years. She was a devoted “Mother” of the church in addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. As a pastor’s wife, she cooked and fed many people and everyone enjoyed the delicious meals she always prepared. Until about three years ago, she continued to prepare and serve a great community breakfast that will always be remembered.
On February 22, 1943, she united in marriage with the love of her life, Rev. James E. Mooneyham and to this union a son was born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James on October 18, 2009; an infant great grandson, James Ingram Barrett; five brothers, Bob, Frank, George, Wesley and Willie Ross and three sisters, Shirley Ross, Fannie Ross Patterson and Mary Ross Smith.
Survivors include her loving and devoted son, Wave Mooneyham and wife, Darlene, of Heidrick; one granddaughter, Tonya Barrett and husband, Billy, of Barbourville; three great grandchildren, Billy Dakota Barrett and wife, Jessica, of Barbourville, Whitney Jones and husband, Justin, of Girdler and Mariah Barrett of Barbourville; four great-great grandchildren, Evan James Barrett, Karsyn Grace Barrett, Emma Jones and Gavin Jones; a brother, Alex Ross of Hazard; two special nieces, Sharon Rickey and Karen Fischer of Ohio; a host of other nieces, nephews, friends, her loving Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church family along with all the Mooneyham and Patterson families.
Her funeral service will be conducted at the Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church Tuesday, October 19 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Keith “Buster” Liford, Rev. Ed Arthur Rice and Jack Doan officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Dozier Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Vernon Liford, Junior Smith, Aden Clark, Dennis Jordan, Don Crawford, Kelly Tomblin and Brandon Jackson.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to her special friend and caregiver, Joyce Sutherland and all her extend family and friends for their excellent care.
Friends may call at the church Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
