Mrs. Beatrice Magadlene Butler, 82, of Trosper, passed away Saturday morning, September 4, 2021 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard. She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Hensley Wilson born on November 23, 1938 in Knox County.
Magadlene was a homemaker and a member of the Big Brush Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed working puzzles, reading maps, watching hummingbirds and tending her flowers. She also loved collecting various things such as bells, unicorns, porcelain dolls, animal figurines, etc. The last year of her life she loved to go camping with her family.
On Christmas day in 1969, she united in marriage with Tom Butler and to this union two children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom; five sisters, Naomi Overton, Lydia Wilson, Lucille Wilson, Polly Ann Wilson and an infant sister; three brothers, Thomas Pete, Steve Matthew and Little John Wilson and a beloved granddaughter, Alison Leddington.
Survivors include two beloved children, Norma Jean Leddington and husband, Rodney, of Artemus and William Arthur Butler and husband, Michael, of Mesa, AZ; two grandchildren, Amber Leddington and Virgil Leddington; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Wednesday, September 8 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Dale Phipps officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends. Honorary bearers will be the staff of Bluegrass Hospice Care and the nursing staff at the Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
The family requests that all visitors wear a facial covering and practice social distancing during the visitation and funeral service.
