Mrs. Barbara Sue Helton, 81, of Gray, passed away Thursday evening, December 14, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin M. and Wanda Lee Harris Loftis born on June 8, 1942 in Detroit, MI.
Barbara was a former waitress at the Union 76 Truck Stop and later at Jerry’s in Corbin and a member of God’s Temple. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching television, especially Hallmark Christmas movies.
On August 29, 1973, she united in marriage Benjamin H. “Buffalo” Helton, who preceded her in death.
Other family members to precede her in death include a son, Johnnie Helton and a sister, Wanda Joyce Owens.
Survivors include her loving children, Benjamin H. Helton Jr. and wife, Terri, of Gray, Rena Ann Jackson and husband, Kenneth Ray, of Cannon, Jimmy Helton and wife, Molly, of Williamsburg, Patsy Shelton and husband, Thomas, of Gray and Donnie Lee Helton and wife, Lora, of Flat Lick; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a special granddaughter-in-law, Nicole Mills; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted in the Buffalo Cemetery Saturday, December 23 at 3 P.M. with Rev. Ray Dean Jr. officiating.
Family and friends will gather at the cemetery prior to the service time.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
