Mrs. Barbara Lois Burnett, 87, of Gray, passed away Monday morning, December 25, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Ed and Delia Johnson Martin born April 5, 2023 in Knox County.
Barbara was a homemaker and of the Christian faith. She loved her family and cherished the times they could gather around the holidays to celebrate and visit with one another. She could often be found in her happy place, the kitchen, cooking large meals for her family to enjoy. Some of her specialties included a delicious jam cake and black walnut candy.
In October of 1956, she united in marriage with Clyde Harold Burnett and to this union three children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; brothers, Wilard, Malcom and James Martin and a sister, Mary Martin.
Survivors include her loving children, Clyde Dwayne Burnett and wife, Carolyn, of Gray, Debra Kay Mills and husband, Robert, of Barbourville and Michael Don Burnett and wife, Dawn, of Washington, MI; sister, Dora Rosin and husband, Al, of Grand Rapids, MI; brother, Ed “Puny” Martin and wife, Mary Lou, of Gray; cherished grandchildren, Debra McChesney, Robyn Thompson, Jessica Watson, Kaysey Lawson, Lauren Burnett and Robert “Robbie” Mills; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Luke and Joseph McChesney, Ricky Watson, Ethan, Bryce and Knox Thompson, Ava Lawson and Annabelle Mills; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, December 30 at 2 P.M. with Adam McChesney and Troy Thompson officiating. She will be laid the rest in the Patterson Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
