Obituary for Barbara Ann Larive (1934-2021)

Barbourville, Ky. – Barbara Ann Larive, 87, passed away December 18, 2021.  Barbara was the daughter of Lillian Moline Dunn and Benjamin Franklin Dunn born to them on April 10, 1934, in Russellville, Alabama.

Barbara resided in Michigan with her husband John for many years before retiring to Kentucky. Barbara was a devoted Christian of the Baptist Faith.  While in Michigan she greatly enjoyed singing in her church choir and, in Kentucky, she loved attending church at Beacon Baptist Church with her sister and family. Whenever she could, Barbara enjoyed visiting with family and friends and sharing a home cooked meal.  Barbara was also adventurous.  She loved being in nature and exploring, often visiting State Parks with her family, to take in the beauty of the trees and mountains.  Barbara especially loved the woods of Northern Michigan where her husband John was from and where they liked to go deer hunting but her favorite thing to do was to go fishing.  Over the years she delighted in teaching her children and grandchildren how to fish, while sharing this favored pastime with them.

In addition to her parents, Mother Lillian Moline Dunn of Alabama, Father Benjamin Franklin Dunn and Stepmother Leona Dunn of Water Valley, Mississippi, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband John S. Larive, Sr. of Michigan, sisters Dorothy Dunn of Michigan, and Francis “Frankie” Dunn Boles of Tennessee, brother-in-law Homer Warren of Barbourville, Kentucky, niece Brenda Warren Mckeehan, great grandson, Jose Alejandro Salas (twin) of Joliet, Illinois, and nine half siblings.

Potts Ross (Rufus) of Water Valley, Mississippi; stepsons John S. Larive, Jr. of Michigan and Wayne Larive of Florida; sister Peggy Dunn Warren of Barbourville, Kentucky and half-sister Cathryn Camp of Water Valley, Mississippi.  Four grandchildren: Andrea L.
