Arvin Smith age 79 of Barbourville was born in Clay County, KY on August 26, 1942 to the late Wilton and Ellen Smith and departed this life on August 29, 2021 at his home. He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed ginseng hunting, hanging with his friends, playing cards, and time with family and friends especially the grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, his wife: Lucille Brock Smith; a daughter: Barbara Jean Smith; and a brother: Elmer Smith preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving children: Rosemary Broughton and husband Danny of Barbourville, Lisa Smith and Dallas Jr. Deaton of Greenroad, Arvin Lee Smith and wife Kathy of Cannon, Jerry Lewis Smith and wife Heather, and Lou Ann Smith and Frank Disney all of Woolum; a brother: Wilton Smith, Jr. of Woolum; 6 sisters: Shirley Ponder of Bell County, Kathleen Smith and husband Luster of Jarvis, Nellie Wheat and husband Larry of Cannon, Vina Reynolds, and Wanda Carter all of Williamsburg, and Anna Brewer of Walker Park; 18 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. Arvin Smith will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. David Swafford and Rev. Donald Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Cotton Gim Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home Thursday Evening from 6 to 9 P.M. and Friday from 10 A.M. to the funeral hour at 1.
