Mr. Arnold Hammons, 75, of Himyar, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 14, 2023 at Baptist Health Lexington. He was the son of the late Arnold and Maggie Dunn Hammons born June 6, 1948 in Knox County.
Arnold was a self employed painter and of the Baptist faith. He was truly the jack of all trades and loved working with his hands. He believed in the value of common sense and was a quick learner. He could complete any job after receiving instructions only once. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of many good friends.
On December 30, 1972, he united in marriage with Anna Lois Cooper.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Anna, nephew Charles Callebs and brother-in-law, Michael Hammons.
Survivors include his loving siblings, JoAnn Miser and husband, J.R., of Morristown, TN, Rosetta Callebs of Lexington and Eugene Hammons and wife, Jody, of Sanford, FL; niece, Deanna Stout; nephews, Darrell Callebs and Jim Hammons; among other loved ones and numerous dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Tim Phipps officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers are family and friends. Serving as honorary bearers are his cousins.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday after 10 A.M. until the funeral hour.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Baptist Health Lexington and Bluegrass Hospice Care for the excellent care they provided to Arnold.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
