Barbourville, Ky. – Ardee Spurlock, 67, of Georgetown, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Ardee was the son of Anna Mae Higgans Spurlock and Charlie Spurlock, joyfully born to them on May 30, 1953.
Ardee was born and raised in Knox County, Kentucky. He will forever be remembered for his broad, beautiful smile. Ardee was a genuinely caring and thoughtful person who loved helping his family, friends, and the elderly in his neighborhood. Those who knew Ardee well would most certainly describe him as “the most giving man you would ever meet”. His family, whom he loved fiercely, was his top priority in life. Ardee had a wonderful sense of humor and was all about having fun. He was always laughing, smiling, and joking around with family and friends. Ardee loved spending time with his family and sharing delicious, home-cooked country meals with them. Some of his favorite foods were catfish, shucked beans, and banana pudding. Before retiring, Ardee worked for many years for the University of Kentucky Agricultural Department. In his spare time, Ardee preferred to be outside working in the yard, gardening, fishing, or hunting. He was also a collector of Case Knives. Ardee never missed an opportunity to spend time with his dear wife Patsy; where you saw one of them, you saw the other. They especially enjoyed going shopping together at Peddlers Malls and Flea Markets.
In addition to his parents, Anna Mae Higgans Spurlock and Charlie Spurlock, Ardee was preceded in death by four beloved children: Eva Spurlock, Crystal Spurlock, Angie Jackson, and Ardee Spurlock, Jr. Six sisters and three brothers also preceded Ardee in death: Elizabeth Caudill, Bernice Pickard, Ruby Disney, Pearl Wyatt, Mary Spurlock, Martha Spurlock, Paul Spurlock, William Spurlock, and Jerry Spurlock.
Left behind to celebrate Ardee’s life is his beloved wife Patsy Spurlock, brother Mark Spurlock and sister-in-law Stella Ann Spurlock, and brother-in-law Herbert Taylor. Nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a host of nieces, and nephews as well as Ardee’s cherished, lifelong, friend, Troy Thomas, will miss him dearly.
