Barbourville, Ky. – Anthony Merida, 27, passed away on September 19, 2021.
Anthony Merida was born Sheldon Leonard Tucker, Jr. to Denise Annetta Reed Hathorn and Sheldon Leonard Tucker, Sr. and was raised by Jeff Merida. Anthony was a loving devoted father, son and brother. He enjoyed his career as an electrician. He also was part of the FFA (Future Farmers Of America). He loved sports and played high school football at Knox Central High School where he attended in Barbourville, Kentucky. His favorite teams were the Oregon Ducks and U of L Cardinals. Anthony lived life and never met a person he considered a stranger. He lived his life with strong views, ways and beliefs. He did things his own way. Anthony loved his three children dearly. He was a gentle heart, soul and spirit. Those brown eyes said it all. In his childhood life growing up, he was given the name by family members, “Pooptie Doo.” He also loved his fried chicken. He enjoyed freestyle rapping with his brother Ray in their spare time with many videos.
He is survived by his children, Zayden Merida, La’Niyah Merida and Drayven Merida; mother, Denise Reed Hathorn; father, Sheldon Tucker (Teiona); father, Jeff Merida; grandmother, Jewell Reed; grandfather, David Mowman; siblings, Rayvontay Richardson, Denitra Reed, Meshell Weatherford, Cheyenne Miller, Nayshell Tucker and Dawson Merida; aunts, Tynetia Woods (Terrence), Latonya Reed Carter, Lashay Fowler and Sherry Tucker; uncles, Bryson Johnson (Laquana), David Fowler and Gary Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great aunts, great uncles and friends. Preceding him in death are his grandmother, Mary Tucker Taylor and grandfather, William Taylor.
A visitation for Anthony Merida will be held at Hopper Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 7: 00 PM.
