Obituary for Angie Bays (1970-2020)

Barbourville, Ky. – Angie Diane Bays, 49, of Trosper, passed away peacefully at home April 6, 2020. A life-long resident of Knox County, Angie was born lovingly on November 26, 1970 to Deborah and Robert Bays, Jr.  Angie worked for numerous years as a receptionist and clerical worker in the Barbourville HUD office. Angie was a member of the Trosper Church of God.

Angie is remembered by her friends and family as “having the biggest heart of anyone” and as “being so loving”.  Angie’s “world” was her two children: Summer Bays and Dakota Smith and her five grandchildren.  She loved nothing more, than spending time with these loves of her life. Angie is also described as being a Fierce Warrior, overcoming, with dignity and grace, each new challenge that came her way.

Angie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her grandmother: Dorothy Bays of Trosper; by her children:  Summer Bays of Barbourville and Dakota Smith of Corbin; by five grandchildren: Carson Smith, Camryn Smith, Maverick Smith, Myla Smith and Brylee Helton. Angie also is survived by one brother, Robert Bryan “Uncle Bob” of Georgetown.  Many other friends and community members are left behind to mourn her passing, including Brandon Gray, Daniel Abshear, James Witt and Austin Martin – all of whom are considered special friends.
