Mr. Andrew J. “A. J.” Senters Jr., 89, of Bryants Store, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 29, 2024 at Baptist Health Lexington. He was born July 12, 1935 at Bryants Store to the late Andrew J. Senters Sr. and Mary Nan Cobb Senters.
A. J. was a dedicated schoolteacher in Knox County for 38 years. He taught in the one and two-room elementary schools at Hubbs Creek, Lay and Ketchen until the completion of G. R. Hampton Elementary School. In earlier years, he enjoyed playing baseball, was a member of the Barbourville Governors Baseball team in the sixties and was an avid Little League and Senior League baseball coach. Additionally, he was the G. R. Hampton Football coach for some years and won the grade school county championship. Following his retirement, he enjoyed maintaining his property, attending events with his long-time friend, Lou Eva Sears, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Estelene Adams.
Survivors include his loving son, Michael Senters and wife, Doris, of Nicholasville; grandchildren, Michael B. Senters of Blacksburg, VA and Jacob A. D. Senters of Lexington; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A graveside service will be conducted in the Ketchen Cemetery Saturday, November 2 at 12:30 P.M. with Rev. Josh Smith officiating.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday after 10:30 A.M. until 12 P.M. at which time family and friends will travel in procession to the cemetery.
