Mrs. Amanda Stewart Smith, 85, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 10, 2022 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Bob and Nancy Mills Stewart born on September 29, 1936 at Sprule.
Amanda was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith. She enjoyed gardening, listening to gospel music, but her greatest joy in life was her family.
On December 4, 1964, she united in marriage with Roy Smith in La Porte, IN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Roy Smith; seven sisters, Myrtle Davidson and husband, Walter, Minnie Jones and husband, Sam, Pearle Mills and husband, Sam, Nana Belle Mills and husband, Bill, Jean Newman and husband, Anthony, May Cain and husband, Algin, and Bonnie Carter and husband, Dow; a brother, George Stewart and wife, Amanda; a son-in-law, Orville Dunham and a great grandson, Elijah James Williams.
Survivors include her six dearly loved children, James Lee Rogers and wife, Cathy, of Decatur, AL, Cynthia Dunham of Lexington, Dewayne Rogers, Billy Rogers and Roy Allen Smith and wife, Shannon, all of Barbourville and Allie Helton and husband, Tim, of Helton; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Farmer of Barbourville and Freda Stewart of Clinton, TN; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, April 14 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Gilbert Collins and Rev. Josh Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Smith Farms Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Serving as honorary bearers will be the Mays Family, Dr. Paul Pedersen and staff and the staff of Bluegrass Hospice Care.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.
