Alma L. Hughes, age 90, of Lexington, KY, passed away November 18, 2020, at Baptist Health of Lexington.
Alma was born April 1, 1930, in Knox County, KY the daughter of Lila and Larkin Walker.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Hughes; one son: Thomas Hughes Jr.; two sisters: Billie Ray & Betty Hooper; two brothers: Walter Walker & Paul Walker.
She has two brothers living: David Walker (Donna) of Oklahoma, & George Walker (Kay) of Texas; she has two loving sons living: Jody & Bradley & daughter in law: Janet Hughes; three grandchildren: Justin, Taylor, Kadiya; four great-grandchildren; Hayden, Jayse, Hayes, Kayden; quite a few nieces and nephews; one special niece and her husband: Linda & Elvis Farris of Gray’s KY, and a special note to Linda from Ms. Hughes: (Thank you for your kindness & long phone conversations).
When she was young she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School & Cub Scouts. She belonged to the Women’s’ Methodist Society of the First Methodist Church of Corbin. She attended school in Corbin, KY, & Fugazzi Business College Lexington, KY. She worked for the Telephone Office Corporation of Lexington, Ky & she worked for a Photo Shop as a film developer over her later years & later worked for Dillard’s Department Store for 17 years.
