Obituary for Alice Mills Farmer (1948-2023)

Ms. Alice Mills Farmer, 75, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday evening, April 23, 2023 at the Christian Health Center in Corbin. She was the daughter of the late Ethel Smith born on August 9, 1948 in Knox County.

Alice was a former respiratory therapist and most recently worked at Barbourville Family Health. She was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed shopping and traveling. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

On February 23, 1967 she united in marriage with Bill Farmer Jr. in Hamilton County, Ohio and to this union two children were born.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by a dearly loved son, Billy Farmer and her former husband, Bill Farmer Jr.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Missy Hammons and husband, Duane, of Harrodsburg; a brother, Jimmy Smith and wife, Gwen, of Girdler; cherished grandchildren, Kendra Bays and husband, Steven, of Union, Austin Hammons and wife, Holly, of Lexington and Jordan Evans of Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Camden, Allyson and Macallen Bays and Hazel, Jahri and Nora Hammons; nieces and nephews, Jonathan Smith, Joanie Siler and husband, Jim, Adam Farmer and wife, Rennata, Tony Burnette and wife, Sandy, Jeff Farmer and wife, Jeanna, Melody Rambo and husband, Dan, Rita Wood and husband, Steve, Michelle Felts and husband, Charlie, Mike Farmer and wife, Angelia; several great-nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A memorial service celebrating Alice’s life will be conducted at the Locust Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, April 29 at 12 Noon with Rev. David Barnard officiating.

Friends may visit at the church Saturday after 10 A.M. until the service time.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Christian Health Center for the excellent care provided to Alice during her illness.
