Obituary for Albert Hembree (1941-2022)

Mr. Albert Hembree, 80, of Trosper, passed away Friday evening, February 11, 2022 at his home.  He was the son of the late Pascal and Viola Burch Hembree born on October 15, 1941 at Trosper.

Albert was a retired postmaster from the Trosper and Artemus post offices and a member of the Big Brush Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, secretary for the church and song leader.  He was also a former president of the Artemus Fire Department and served on the Tinsley Cemetery Board until recently.  He enjoyed watching Fox news, was an avid UK basketball and football fan and dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On September 21, 1963, he united in marriage with Lillian Kilgore and to this union a son was born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Corb and Kerm Hembree; parents-in-law, Alton and Marie Patterson Kilgore; sisters-in-law, Helen Kilgore Barton, Alma Kilgore Brooks and Sally Kilgore Bruce; brothers-in-law, Joseph Kilgore and Ray Powers; two nieces, Kathy Daniels and Debbie Dunham and a great niece, Christie Smith.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 58 years, Lillian Hembree of Trosper; beloved son, Keith Hembree and wife, Julie, of Gray; treasured grandchildren, Matthew Hembree and wife, Ashley and Ashley Hembree; great grandchildren, McKenly, Benson, Amara and Jett Hembree; sisters-in-law, Joan Powers, Charlotte Kilgore and Sharon Duke and husband, Randy; brothers-in-law, Jerry Kilgore and wife, Brenda, and George Bruce; nieces and nephews, Jeff Broughton and wife, Trena, Brooke Hembree, Diane Brooks, Doyle Brooks and wife, Teresa, Kimberly Linville and husband, Roger, Doug Bruce, Michelle French and husband, Tim, Jeannie Mills and husband, Dennis, Shannon Powers and wife, Holly, Brian Kilgore and wife, Kara, Melinda Kerr and husband, Jason, Lesandra Jones and Doug Dunham; several great nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, February 16 at 3 P.M. with Rev. Dale Phipps and Rev. Bill Gray officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Tinsley Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Shannon Powers, Caleb Powers, Mike Butler, Doug Bruce, Jeff Broughton and Doug Dunham.  Honorary bearers will be members of the Big Brush Baptist Church, Artemus Fire Department, Dr. Michel Bidros and his staff and his many friends and neighbors.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday after 1 P.M. until the funeral hour.
