Janice Ilene Parker Jackson, 83

Barbourville, Ky. – Janice Ilene Parker Jackson, age 83, affectionately known as “Mamaw Jack”, departed from this life to be with Jesus and other precious Saints of God on January 9, 2025, with her family by her side and surrounded by many, many unseen angels.

A funeral service will be held at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel in Barbourville, Kentucky on January 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM; visitation will be held prior to the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM.  Janice’s nephew, Reverend Wesley Williams will officiate assisted by Janice’s grandson-in-law Brother Brandon Harbin.  Musical tributes to be performed by Jeff Cottongim and Sarah Harbin.  Interment will follow the funeral service in the Mount Olivet Cemetery at Tuttle, Kentucky.  The family has chosen as Casket Bearers Ernest Gray, Brandon Harbin, Adam Pennington, David Gray, Greg Begley, Tony Williams, and Jess Williams.  Honorary Casket Bearers are Dr. James Adams and Dr. Sean James.

Janice leaves behind a legacy of love, so loved and cherished by her devoted husband Dirl C. Jackson. Janice was the proud mother of Vivian Pennington, Diane Guy, Christine Gray (Ernest Gray), Gregory Allen Childers, Dale Anthony Childers (Tonya Adams), and Michael Todd Childers (Donna Childers).  Janice was a beloved sister to Lorene Cottongim (Roy Cottongim) (both deceased), Betty Williams (Benny Williams deceased), Freda Saylor (Lloyd Saylor), Johnny Parker (deceased) (Nancy Parker), James Parker (deceased) (Debra), and Sandra Burke (Tony Burke).

Janice also leaves behind 4 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Adam Pennington, Sarah (Sissy) Harbin (Brandon Harbin), David Aaron Gray, and Corbin Childers.  As well, she was blessed with 4 great grandchildren who survive her: Alexis Pennington, Olivia Pennington, Adeline Harbin, and Lindy Harbin. Janice was the daughter of Elmer and Dora Parker and has been reunited with them in Heaven.

Janice loved to read, and her favorite book was the Bible.  She enjoyed front porch singing and fellowship with her family and friends. She’s now singing around the throne of God.  Her legacy will live on in her family.
